Prestan Manikin Compression Clicker Problems?

Need help with your manikin’s clicker? Let’s troubleshoot!

Recently, we’ve had a few calls from customers having Prestan Manikin compression clicker problems in the Prestan Professional Series manikins. In this blog, we’ll break down some of the possible causes and ways to fix the issue!

What’s a clicker?

First off, let’s explain the “clicker” and how it works. The clicker is part of the compression rate assembly located in the chest cavity of your Prestan Professional Series CPR manikin. When the user presses firmly enough to deliver the proper depth of compression for effective CPR, this mechanism will compress and recoil with a loud “click!”

CPR Training Shields vs Valves- Pros and Cons

Handle big classes hygienically (without breaking the budget!)

CPR training uses a lot of “consumables.”  As an instructor, you know you have to replace training valves after each class, but do you know why? Today we’ll explain a little about how valves work, and compare pros and cons of valves vs CPR training shields.

How it Works:

When students breathe into the valve,  it’s like blowing into a balloon: inflating and deflating (lung bags work just like balloons!).  Then, they pass the “balloon” to the next person.

Within the valve stem is a gauze-like material that prevents fluids transferring between students during practice, preventing cross-contamination.

Prestan Discontinuing Light Skin Tone CPR Manikins

Manikin manufacturer responds to CPR market

Earlier this month we learned of Prestan discontinuing light skin tone CPR manikins. This decision includes adult, child, infant, single and 4 packs, collections, family packs and jaw-thrust manikins. Some light skin tone products will be available for a limited time.
Prestan Discontinuing Light Skin Tone Manikins Aug. 31, 2018.
Prestan’s decision to nix the light models is based on the greater popularity of medium and dark manikins, which look more realistic and are easier to keep clean. The change comes at a time when many CPR instructors are preparing for the 2019 AHA compliance updates.  Continue reading Prestan Discontinuing Light Skin Tone CPR Manikins

The Giving Back Conundrum

MCR Medical finds that when we give back, we get so much more

The “Giving Back Conundrum”:

Does it ever seem that, when you do something nice for someone else, YOU are the one who gets the most benefit? It’s almost unfair! Why should helping others give us such a boost? We’re already so fortunate. And yet, it always seems to work that way. At MCR Medical, it’s important that we share our good fortune by meeting real needs in our community. Still, every time it feels like we “get” more from the experience than we “give.”

Sack lunches ready to go to The Open Shelter

Here’s an example. Since August 2017, the first Friday of the month finds us taking 200 sack lunches to The Open Shelter in Columbus, Ohio. This amazing organization was the first 24-hour emergency walk-in shelter in Ohio and has helped over

30,000 men, women and children with securing and retaining housing, providing hot meals, food, clothing, hygiene supplies, tarps and sleeping bags since opening their doors in 1983.
