We are currently participating in the 6th Annual National CPR & AED Awareness Rally, joining forces with survivors, family members, healthcare professionals, and passionate advocates from across the country.
Our shared mission is simple yet urgent: turn personal stories of survival and remembrance into systemic, life-saving change nationwide.
The Power of Being a Heart Advocate
Becoming a heart advocate means stepping up to speak for those who no longer can, and fighting to ensure that future cardiac emergencies have a vastly different outcome. Heart advocacy isn't just for medical professionals—it is for parents, coaches, colleagues, and everyday citizens who realize that sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time.
When you step into the role of a heart advocate, you help break down the hesitation that often keeps bystanders from taking action. Advocacy builds a chain of survival in our communities through key pillars:
Demystifying CPR: Pushing for widespread Hands-Only CPR education so that every individual feels confident stepping up during a sudden collapse.
Honoring Lives and Creating Hope: Connecting survivors with newly impacted families to build support networks that transform grief into purposeful action.
Why AEDs Are Essential in Every Location
Sudden cardiac arrest is an electrical malfunction in the heart that causes it to stop beating effectively. It is not the same as a heart attack, and it strikes without warning. Without immediate intervention, brain damage can occur within minutes, and survival rates drop by roughly 7% to 10% for every single minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation.
While Hands-Only CPR keeps oxygenated blood pumping to vital organs, only an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can shock the heart back into a normal rhythm. This makes ubiquitous access to AEDs a absolute necessity.
The Case for Universal AED Accessibility
Every Second Counts: Emergency medical service (EMS) response times average 7 to 10 minutes in urban areas and can be significantly longer in rural locations. Having an AED on site fills the critical gap between collapse and first responder arrival.
