Is there a shelf life for exam gloves?
updated April 16, 2020
Exam gloves are indispensable for many field first aid applications and classroom teaching sessions. Even everyday cleaning needs often require the use of hand protection. As a result, gloves are something often bought in quantity.
How the gloves are stored absolutely affects how well they last over time. Stored in a hot, humid area will lead to faster material deterioration, but expiration dates are not mandated by the FDA for examination gloves.
In general, the shelf life for nitrile and latex exam gloves is about 4 years, provided that they are stored according to the guidelines listed on the packaging.
